We will be creating adorable and practical folded pocketbooks for this Friday's folding class, also known as the Blizzard book. Hedi Kyle designed this unique book structure from one long sheet of paper while stuck in a blizzard which is how the book got its name.
These fun pocketbooks can hold cards and little bits of mixed media art. They are completely customizable depending on the paper strip you use.
To make the book in class, you will need a long strip of paper 7 5/8" x 33". If you don't have a long strip, cut office paper into three strips, 7 5/8" x 11", join the ends together with washi tape or masking tape to make the long strip.
Join us Friday, 4/2/2021 at 2 pm MST!

Spring is finally here, and it’s such a refreshing time! The warm sunshine feels lovely on our skin and melts away the winter blues. Trees are blossoming, and flowers are blooming.
In celebration of spring and new beginnings, we’re painting watercolor flower doodles for our live class on Monday, March 22, at 11 am MST.
To follow along during the live class, you will need a watercolor paper sheet about 5 x7 inches, watercolors, a fine-tipped pen, a round watercolor brush, and a pencil.

On Friday, March 19, at 2 pm MST, we will be folding cute and practical star boxes. Have a pair of scissors and some glue ready as well. See you Friday!
I fondly remember playing in the green clover lawns sprinkled with white flowers in our yard as a Southern California child. Bees would pick up the pollen from the white flowers, which was our only sign of spring since the weather was pretty much the same all year round. I would always scan the lush, green ground cover for the elusive four-leaf clover, and one day, I found one!
Some traditions say that the three leaves of the clover represent faith, hope, and love. The fourth, of course, is for luck.
We will be painting and doodling watercolor four-leaf clovers for next Monday's mixed-media event!
You will need a sheet of watercolor paper, a pencil, green watercolor, a brush, a black fine-tipped pen, some white ink, or a white pen.
See You Monday, 3/15 at 11 am MST!

We will be making practical and fun containers and boxes for the remainder of our March Fold-it Friday events! We will be folding traditional, stackable Sanbo boxes for this coming Friday. These cute little boxes have flaps to decorate and are great for holding candies and small things.
All you will need is a sheet of origami or decorative paper at least six inches square. The bigger the sheet, the bigger the box!

The ocean is a whole body of salt water covering nearly three-fourths of the earth's surface. It covers most of our planet, regulates our weather and climate, absorbs vast amounts of carbon dioxide, provides most of our oxygen, and feeds much of the human population. For many of us, the ocean is a place to dream, play, and find peace.
For the next few Mixed-Media Monday events, we will be traveling to the ocean and creating beach-inspired doodles with watercolors, pens, inks, and papers!

For the next Fold-it-Friday event, we will head off to an imaginary ocean and fold a seahorse and shell to create an undersea scene. You can create a fun-themed greeting card or picture to hang on your wall with the folded models.
All you need is a couple of sheets of six-inch square paper for the sea horses and a sheet or two of three-inch square pieces for the shells.
Have some watercolors and watercolor greeting card stock or paper handy for creating a fun background for your folded sea creatures!
See you Friday!
