I put together a short video on exploring light and shadow with forms. This is especially important when you are drawing my life and using your own light source and objects (forms). It can also help us when we are using our imagination and essentially "making up" the light source. This video will give us things to consider for where we choose to place our light source. I encourage you to try this exercise at home! Here is a simple and easy creative activity to try! All you need is ink jet prints, heavier weight paper, scissors, a paint brush, spray bottle with water and some gloss or matte medium. This video I put together will show you the how-to. This is a fun way to incorporate mixed media imagery into your paintings, drawings or other artworks. It's great for crafting as well! Contour drawing is a great way to practice your drawing skills and there are many different methods and techniques for doing it. I am teaching a live class tomorrow at 10am MST on contour drawing, you can register by clicking on "upcoming events." After the event, it will be posted on the "on-demand classes" page to view at a later time. This simple exercise just uses plants you have at home (or in your garden) to practice your hand-eye coordination and improve your drawing skills. Drawing is truly about seeing and this exercise practices just that. If you prefer to use another object or even your hand, feel free! |
