Many thanks to everyone who voted and in turn helped to redesign our weekly project! The remake, shown here is reminiscent of a vintage vacuum bag and could easily be sized up to create a really fun backpack. Let us know, in the comments, if you can envision the backpack or something else! If you would like to participate in future live events, such as this, please register on the events page. Until then, be well and sew happy! Andrea Pattern measurements & materials for the new "mini vacuum bag":
Finished measurements: 8" tall x 5" wide by 2.5" deep If you prefer, no sound and the ability to pause, here is the demonstration video used in the live chat. Join us Friday at 3 p.m. mountain time to showoff a recent club project or sewing tip / trick with the community.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the first design variation poll and live chat. It was so fun and I absolutely love the finished project. We surely have taken the basic cube to the next level with our collaboration. To recap: We increased the size by using 8" x 8" panels and 4" x 8" sides, added a zippered top closure, two way interior divided compartment and double handles. Pattern pieces as shown below: (5) 8" x 8" for exterior (4) 8" x 8" for interior front, center (6) 8" x 4" for interior sides / base (2) 8" x 8" for zipper gusset (2) 5" x 10" for handles Plus desired interfacing. I used quilt batting for the exterior. Wow! Nice work sewing club friends! If you join us for the Sew and Tell on Friday, June 5 at 3 p.m. MT I will show you the finished piece. Don't forget you need to pre-register on the Live Events page in order to receive the Zoom link: Sewing - Live Events I can hardly wait to see what you do with our next project! Until then, be well and sew happy! Andrea Sewing Club Leader Element3 Health Clubs |
